Community Projects

Practical projects that improve the places people live, use and care about.

Future of Woolton is being built to support community-led projects that protect important places, improve neighbourhoods and create lasting local benefit.

Current projects

Where our work begins.

Future of Woolton is still being established, so we are not presenting future ambitions as completed projects. Our first and most developed project is Save Woolton Baths.

Flagship Project

Current focus

Save Woolton Baths

Our first major project is working towards a viable route to protect, restore and sustainably reopen the Grade II listed Woolton Baths for community use.

Heritage

Protect an important Grade II listed local building.

Community

Return the Baths to meaningful community use.

Sustainability

Build a viable long-term operating model.

Future project areas

The kinds of projects we hope to develop.

These are areas Future of Woolton intends to explore as the CIO develops its trustees, volunteers, partnerships, funding and delivery capacity. They are ambitions, not currently active programmes unless shown otherwise.

Community Clean-Ups

Organised local clean-ups that improve streets, public spaces and shared areas while bringing residents together around practical action.

Green-Space Improvement

Supporting better parks, planting, landscaping and community use of local green spaces where there is a clear public benefit.

Playground Regeneration

Helping improve or regenerate local play areas where communities identify a need and the right partnerships and permissions can be secured.

Community Facilities

Supporting facilities that improve recreation, wellbeing, access, inclusion and opportunities for local residents.

Heritage & Building Regeneration

Exploring future opportunities to protect and bring other important community or heritage buildings back into sustainable use.

Community Support

Developing future support initiatives for residents and families in need when the charity has the funding, governance and capacity to do so responsibly.

How projects develop

From a community idea to sustainable delivery.

Good intentions are not enough on their own. We want projects to move through a clear process so that responsibilities, costs, permissions and long-term implications are understood.

01

Listen

Understand the issue, speak to the community and identify what would create genuine benefit.

02

Assess

Consider feasibility, ownership, permissions, risks, cost, funding and whether the project fits our charitable purposes.

03

Plan

Build a clear delivery plan with responsibilities, controls, partners and realistic outcomes.

04

Deliver

Mobilise volunteers, partners, professionals and funding only when the project is ready to proceed responsibly.

05

Maintain

Make sure the benefit does not end when the launch event or first phase of work is over.

Our project principles

We want to improve places without creating new problems.

Need Before Noise

Projects should respond to a real local need rather than simply exist because an idea is popular or funding is available.

Evidence Before Spending

Costs, permissions, risks and responsibilities should be understood before money is committed.

Partnership Before Duplication

Where another organisation is already doing good work, Future of Woolton should look to support or collaborate rather than unnecessarily duplicate it.

Sustainability Before Scale

We want projects that can be maintained and supported properly after the initial work is complete.

Community ideas

Know somewhere that could benefit from practical community action?

Future of Woolton should remain connected to residents and local organisations. We welcome ideas about spaces, facilities and community needs that may deserve attention.

Submitting an idea does not mean Future of Woolton has agreed to take it on. Any project would need to be assessed against our charitable purposes, available resources, risks and existing commitments.

Tell us about it

Local knowledge can help us understand where Future of Woolton could make the greatest difference.

Share the issue, location and why you think the project would benefit the community.

Share a project idea

Help us make an impact

Community projects need people, skills and support.

As Future of Woolton develops, we want to build a network of residents, volunteers, businesses and professionals who can help turn worthwhile ideas into practical results.
