Inclusive access

Accessibility Statement

How Future of Woolton is working to make its website and digital information easier to access and use.

Future of Woolton CIO — In Formation

Our approach

We are working towards WCAG 2.2 Level AA as our accessibility benchmark, but we are not claiming full compliance before the site has been comprehensively audited. If you encounter a barrier, tell us and we will investigate it.

1. Our commitment

Future of Woolton wants its website and digital information to be usable by as many people as possible.

We aim to design and maintain our public website with accessibility, clarity and inclusive use in mind. This includes considering people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, zoom, voice input, alternative input devices or other assistive technology.

Accessibility is an ongoing responsibility rather than a one-off task. As the organisation and its website develop, we will continue reviewing content, design and functionality and will make reasonable improvements where issues are identified.

2. Accessibility standard we are working towards

We are working towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA as the appropriate benchmark for this website.

We are not currently claiming that every page or feature has been independently audited or is fully WCAG 2.2 AA compliant. This statement reflects our current approach and commitment while the site continues to develop.

3. What we are doing

Our current accessibility approach includes:

  • using clear page headings and a logical content structure;
  • using meaningful link and button text where practical;
  • supporting keyboard navigation across standard website controls;
  • maintaining readable colour contrast in the main site design;
  • using responsive layouts so content works across screen sizes;
  • allowing text to reflow when users zoom their browser;
  • providing text alternatives for important images where appropriate;
  • avoiding unnecessary flashing or rapidly moving content;
  • using plain English where possible while keeping formal governance and project information accurate;
  • reviewing new pages and features with accessibility in mind before they are added to the public website.

4. Using the website

Most modern browsers allow you to change text size, zoom into a page, use browser reading tools or apply your own display preferences.

The site should be usable without a mouse for standard navigation and form controls. If you find a part of the site that cannot be reached or used with a keyboard, please tell us so that we can investigate.

5. Images and media

We aim to provide useful alternative text for images that communicate information.

Some historic photographs, archival material or third-party media may have limitations because of their original format, age or source. We will try to provide an appropriate text description where this is practical and useful.

6. Documents

Some reports, governance documents, historic records or supporting evidence may be provided as PDF, Word or other downloadable files. These formats can present accessibility challenges depending on how the original document was created.

Where a document is not accessible to you, contact us and we will consider whether the information can reasonably be provided in an alternative format.

7. Forms and linked services

Some Future of Woolton activity links to separate services used for campaign administration. For example, Save Woolton Baths supporter registration is currently hosted through Beacon AI infrastructure.

Where we control the design of those services, we will continue improving accessibility as part of the wider Future of Woolton digital system. External services may also have their own accessibility features and limitations.

8. Known limitations

Because the website and organisation are still developing, there may be accessibility issues that have not yet been identified.

Potential limitations may include:

  • older or historic documents that were not originally created in an accessible format;
  • historic photographs that may have limited descriptive context;
  • third-party websites or services that are outside our direct control;
  • newly introduced pages or features that require further testing and refinement.

We do not want these limitations to prevent someone from accessing important information. If you encounter a barrier, please contact us.

9. Requesting information in another format

If you need information from this website in a different format, such as a clearer text version, larger text or another reasonable format, email us at support@futureofwoolton.org.uk.

Please tell us which page or document you need and what format would help you. We will consider reasonable requests and respond as soon as we can.

10. Reporting an accessibility problem

If you find an accessibility issue, including a page that is difficult to read, navigate or use with assistive technology, please contact us.

It is helpful if you include the page address, a short description of the problem and, if you are comfortable doing so, the browser, device or assistive technology you were using.

Reports can be sent to support@futureofwoolton.org.uk.

11. Physical accessibility

This statement relates primarily to the Future of Woolton website.

Future physical venues, events and projects will have their own accessibility requirements. Where Future of Woolton becomes responsible for a building, event or service, accessibility will need to be considered alongside safety, heritage, legal, operational and practical requirements.

Woolton Baths is not currently open to the public under Future of Woolton operation, and no future physical-access arrangements should be assumed until an appropriate property and delivery route is secured.

12. Review of this statement

We will review this statement as the website changes, when material accessibility issues are identified, and as Future of Woolton moves through CIO registration and future project delivery.

This statement was last reviewed on 12 September 2026.
